Guy on the Gametrailer stream confirmed that Dead Rising 3 is a more serious story, but there’s still funny shit you can do within the game.
Personally, I’m pretty relieved by that, because that’s how Dead Rising 1 was. You could put on dresses and fight clowns in a mall, but the central storyline played itself pretty much 100% straight. I like that. I loved Dead Rising 1 for that, and I hated Dead Rising 2’s stupid zombie-rights gameshow Vegas set-up.
I’m hopeful for this, at least.
Alright, so, that clearly wasn’t anything I expected
Fuck, man. I wanted to hate it. I wanted to hate that conference so bad. I’ve been disappointed by E3 for so many years that I was just HYPED to see how bad it would be. But it wasn’t bad. It wasn’t bad at all. It was actually good! I’m EXCITED FOR VIDEO GAMES. FINALLY.
I don’t know if I’m particularly interested in the Xbox One itself, though. Most of the games they showed were super interesting. I’m still blown away by Metal Gear Solid V. Titanfall looks awesome and even though all we saw was a pre-rendered trailer, I really love the style of Insomniac’s new game. However, a lot of these games seem multiplatform, so owning an Xbox One won’t seem really necessary. The few that were confirmed exclusive didn’t seem THAT great. It looks like Dead Rising 3 is returning to the style of 1 and the new mechanics seem pretty great, but I dunno, I need to see more.
They still didn’t address the concerns everybody (and me) were worried about, but with the two free games a month, Xbox Live is FINALLY justified and I’m just so damn happy that they’re getting rid of Microsoft Points. However, I’m not sure I’m going to be buying an Xbox One for that, ESPECIALLY for 500 bucks.
Still, good conference, actually got me excited for video games again.

Yeah, this is a super interesting set-piece for a Battlefield game but it’s still a Battlefield game, you’re still ducking and shooting heads. Fuck, why can’t we just have an interesting scenario without generic shootin’ guns gameplay?
Give me a fucking Disaster Report/Raw Danger game but with THIS and then I’ll be interested
